As a fitness professional, I am well aware of the growing numbers of women and men who are dissatisfied with their bodies.
They constantly punish themselves physically and mentally by trying to whip themselves into shape. Believing that their beauty and happiness is dependent on being a specific size; they struggle to accept the skin they are in.
How can you love your body but want to change it? Let these 25 reasons bring compassion and understanding to changing your body because you love it, not because you hate it.
#1. Realize that you will always be a work in progress; that your growth physically, mentally and spiritually will never be done.
#2. By feeding your body good food and feeding your mind good thoughts you can love yourself into well-being.
#3. The problem isn’t your body, it’s what you think of it. Love the person you’ve become. Be your own kind of beautiful.
#4. If asked to list all the things you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?
#5. It’s fine to admire someone else’s beauty, just don’t question your own. Wishing to be someone else is a waste of the person you already are.
#6. If you want to change your body, you must first change your mind. Begin by acknowledging you are perfect exactly as you are. Don’t be the reason you don’t succeed.
#7. You can be both a masterpiece and a work in progress at the same time. Learn to love your body through its time of growth; as a human being your physical and mental makeup is forever transforming.
#8. Love the body you already have, instead of the idea of what you want it to be. Don’t wait until you reach your goals to appreciate your true beauty.

Don’t be motivated to make changes because of the pressures of societal norms. Instead, be driven to take care of your body because it’s the only place you have to live.
